Redwomen edge Trojans with 7th inning comeback

PORTSMOUTH — There’s no quit in the Rock Hill Redwomen.
Trailing in the top of the seventh, the Redwomen scored twice to edge the Portsmouth Lady Trojans 4-3 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.
The game was scoreless until the fourth when each team scored twice.
Anna Darby doubled and Baylie Harrah singled to put Rock Hill up 1-0. Kelsey Olderham then singled home Darby.
Andi Queen singled and Semajah Parker hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning.
Portsmouth took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth when Parker singled, went to second on an error and scored on Eliza Gullett’s base hit.
But Rock Hill rallied with two runs in the seventh on doubled by Jill Hairston, Gracie Stevens and Madison Harper.
Hairston got the win as she struck out nine and did not walk a batter. She gave up seven hits.
Queen took the loss as she had four strikeouts, one walk and allowed nine hits.
On Friday, Rock Hill is at Ironton and Portsmouth visits Gallipolis.
