Help ‘stamp out’ hunger

While there may not be a letter to place in it, using your mailbox on Saturday, May 13 can help “stamp out” hunger that so many people face.
In a collaborative effort between the United States Postal Service, National Association of Letter Carriers, National Rural Letter Carrier’s Association, AFL-CIO, Feeding America,
United Way, Valassis and Valpak, the Stamp Out Hunger event is now in its 25th year and is regarded as the largest food drive held on a single day and helps provide food to millions of people in need.
It is no secret that millions of Americans face food shortages in their households, and this effort goes a long way to combat that.
In many cases, we all have a few extra cans of food or other non-perishable items that we can all donate to the cause.
Getting involved is as easy as leaving those items out by your mailbox before your normal delivery May 13, and the carriers with their partners will do the rest.
It is always easy to identify the negatives of any situation, but being involved and helping others who are struggling can be a beacon of light.
It only takes a few minute of your time, and we encourage all those who can to be involved when the mail runs next Saturday.
