Citations are unfair to city residents

Iam a resident of Ironton and have been for over 50 years, and am disappointed that the city wants to increase our city taxes (to keep from laying off fire fighters), which I am all for, but want to punish us taxpaying residents by giving out citations for various parking situations that obviously do not apply to all tax paying citizens.
I don’t know why I did not get my book of rules for living in Ironton when I purchased my first home. It is pretty sad when you can’t even use your own property the way your neighbor can and we both pay taxes…kinda sad! I think the city needs to be worried more about cleaning up the uptown area with the new bridge going in and making our town look better for more businesses.
We, as residents, are getting double slammed — not too fair.
I have lived at my home for 12 years and was told I can no longer use my driveway, but to go in and out of my garage. So, if I need to clean or work on any of my vehicles, it will have to be in the street. The reason I can not use my driveway is because the side walk runs into it, but does not continue. There is an alley on the other side. I was told the sidewalk needs to be accessible for wheelchairs.
The city needs to focus on other issues like bad sidewalks, bad streets, and buildings that need boarded up due to hazardous exposure in our neighborhoods, not to mention the value damage it has done to our neighborhoods.
I hate to say this but they are going to run everybody out of this once-nice small town. What a shame.
