The Ironton Lion’s Club will be promoting diabetes awareness from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Briggs Library in Ironton.
The community is invited to participate and learn more about diabetes. Additionally, blood tests will be available to test for diabetes.
“The Lion’s Club promotes eyesight,” said Dr. Bill Basedow, member of the Ironton Lion’s Club. “Eyesight is altered with people with diabetes.”
The event is free and open to the public.
Basedow said people who are diabetic, those who think they might be diabetic, those who are overweight, have high cholesterol or have family members who have diabetes are especially encouraged to attend.
“Part of the Lion’s Club is community service,” Basedow said. “Diabetes is very prevalent in this area.”
The Lion’s Club hosted the event last year and organizers said it was very well received.
