The Coal Grove Lady Hornets got some key contributions off the bench as they beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 55-44 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.

“We had a huge lift from our bench tonight. Harmonee Boggs made four 3-point baskets and had 12 points and Abbie Deeds chipped in 8 points with two 3-pointers. We haven’t had a lot of scoring off the bench in a while, so it was definitely a welcome sight,” said Lady Hornets coach Nick Miller.

Myles Bailey nailed a 3-pointer and scored 5 points and Haylee Dancy got 4 points as Rock Hill took an 11-9 first quarter lead.

Izzy Kitts hit a 3-pointer and Jenna Anson was 2 of 2 from the foul line for Coal Grove.

But then came the pivotal second quarter as Coal Grove outscored Rock Hill 22-10 and took a 31-21 halftime lead.

Harmonee Boggs came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers, Abbie Deeds also came off the bench and drilled a trey, and Anson made a 3-pointer and scored 5 points for the Lady Hornets (7-7, 4-5).

J’lynn Risner scored 6 of Rock Hill’s 10 points.

The Redwomen cut the deficit to 43-35 in the third quarter as Risner scored 10 of their 14 points.

Emma Lively scored 5 points as she and Boggs hit 3-pointers and Anson had 4 points for Coal Grove.

Lively made another 3-pointer and four different players scored in the fourth quarter as the Lady Hornets stretched the lead by 3 points.

Bailey scored 5 points for the Redwomen who were just 3 of 8 from the foul line in the quarter.

“Rock Hill always plays hard and they made a run at us in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to four points,” said Miller.

“Emma Lively made a big 3-pointer and put us back up seven with around two minutes left.”

Anson had 12 points and was 7 of 10 at the foul line to lead the Lady Hornets.

Boggs also had 12 points with Deeds and Lively getting 8 points each.

Risner scored a game-high 21 points for Rock Hill (5-9, 1-7) with Bailey scoring 14.
