WILLOW WOOD — The Symmes Valley Vikings might not have had as much talent as the Oak Hill Oaks, but the Oaks certainly didn’t have more heart.
With only four seniors, the Vikings kept battling but the Oaks were too much as they posted a 40-0 Southern Ohio Conference Division I win on Friday.
“Our kids did play hard and we did some things well. We never quit. We’re just young and we make a lot of mistakes,” said Vikings’ coach Rusty Webb.
It is the last scheduled meeting between the two schools. Oak Hill (3-1, 1-0) will move to the SOC II division next season.
Oak Hill had 395 total yards with 364 coming on the ground. Bayley Clutters had 75 yards on 10 carries, Colin Hughes 69 yards on six tries and Noah Conley 56 yards on just three attempts to pace a balanced ground game.
The Vikings (2-2, 0-1) managed just 94 total yards with 58 on the ground. Quarterback Keifer Wilson was 3-of-10 passing for 36 yards — all to Jack Leith. Nick Strow ran eight times for 18 yårds.
Oak Hill took a 21-0 first quarter lead as Bradey Chandler had a pair of 4-yard touchdown runs and Hughes scooted 11 yards for a touchdown.
Donley got loose on a 48-yard scoring run in the second quarter and Caden Harden kicked his fourth conversion point and it was 28-0.
Clutters made it 34-0 at the half with a 1-yard touchdown plunge.
Hughes ran 14 yards in the third quarter for the Oaks final touchdown.
Symmes Valley vists Green in an SOC game next Friday.
