SOUTH POINT — Tara Layne is safe.
The South Point Lady Pointers’ first-year softball coach went into King’s Daughters’ Medical Center Saturday morning after pains in her leg persisted for several days last week.
Doctors discovered Layne had a blood clot in her knee. A filter was inserted into her vein to keep the clot from advancing and the procedure proved to be successful.
“They’re still doing some tests but she’s through the worst part of all of this,” said Pointers’ assistant baseball coach Danny Layne, Tara’s father.
“Tara has received text messages from several girls which really helped raise her spirits. You can tell it’s eating at her not to be with her team.”
The Lady Pointers played at Green on Tuesday and beat the Lady Bobcats 9-0 as assistant Robin Creswell coached the team.
