When they say something is free, there’s usually a catch.

Not this time.

Rock Hill made 26-of-39 free throws as a team for the game and the Redwomen used a team effort to edge the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 60-59 on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Rock Hill used the trio of Sammy Bamer, J’lynn Risner and Kassidy Lyons to help keep Ironton leading scorer Lola Hankins under her scoring average as she got 14 points on the night.

Picking up the scoring slack were Emerson White who scored 14 points and Peyton Deer who had 14 points as she made four 3-pointers for Ironton (5-8, 3-5).

Rock Hill (4-8, 1-6) took a 12-9 first quarter lead as four different players scored.

Hankins scored 4 points and Deer hit a 3-pointer for Ironton.

The Lady Fighting Tigers came back to take a 33-30 halftime lead as White scored 8 points and Deer and Chloie Patterson both made a pair of 3-pointers.

Myles Bailey scored 8 points including 6 free throws and Risner had 6 points.

But the Redwomen regained the lead at 42-41 in the third quarter as Bailey sank 4-of-6 free throw attempts, Haylee Dancy got 3 points and both Abby Schug and Risner added baskets.

White had 4 points with Hankins and Addison Neal getting 2 points each for Ironton’s total in the quarter.

Hankins knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, Deer had a trifecta and a pair of free throws and Jolee Hankins scored 4 points for Ironton in the fourth quarter, but Rock Hill converted 12-of-16 free throws.

Bailey scored 10 points and was 8-of-8 at the line while Risner had 8 points and was 4-of-4 from the line.

Bailey finished with 27 points as she connected on 17-of-22 free throws. Risner scored 19 points and was 5-of-9 at the line.
