HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football has signed a one-game deal with Eastern Kentucky University for the 2025 season.
Marshall will host the Colonels at Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Sept. 13, 2025.
“It’s always great to play a team from a neighboring state,” Marshall Director of Athletics Christian Spears said. “EKU has a nice tradition, they are a regional opponent and they will travel well to Huntington. We look forward to seeing them at Joan C. Edwards Stadium in 2025!”
The 2025 meeting between the teams will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the programs and the first since the start of the 2020 season when they met in the opener during the COVID-19-impacted season.
EKU is one of Marshall’s oldest rivals among programs still in existence. When the teams face off in 2025, it will come 99 years after their first meeting – a 34-0 win over the Colonels on Oct. 1, 1926.
Marshall leads the all-time series 12-8-1.
With the announcement, Marshall now has tentatively completed its 2025 non-conference schedule. The Herd will face Georgia (Aug. 30) to open the year before consecutive home games against Missouri State (Sept. 6) and Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 13). The non-conference portion of the schedule is slated to end with a trip to Middle Tennessee (Sept. 20).
