MASSILLON — It was a game featuring players from the South and the North of Ohio, but it had a real Ohio Valley Conference flavor.

Three players from the OVC played in the annual Ohio High School Football Coaches Association North/South All-Star Game on Saturday at Massillon Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.

The Fairland Dragons were reprinted by the passing tandem of quarterback Peyton Jackson and wide receiver Brycen Hunt.

A third OVC player in the game was Cole Hines from Gallipolis. Hines played solid defense and special teams and was in on several tackles.

Hunt led the South in receiving with 5 catches for 114 yards with 3 of his receptions coming from Jackson.

Hunt had the catch of the game with a one-handed grab.

Jackson topped the local trio with a performance that saw him complete 11-of-19 passes with no interceptions and a 28-yard scoring pass to Levi Smith of Cincinnati Purcell-Marian.

It was the only South touchdown in a 28-7 loss to the North.

Peyton’s performance earned him the South’s Player of the Game award.

One of the South team’s assistant coaches was Mike Jackson from Fairland who expressed praise of the local trio.

“I was very fortunate to be selected to be an assistant coach and get to have this great week of experience and coach two of my players one last time,” said coach Jackson whose son is Peyton.
