OSHP makes drug arrests

CHESAPEAKE — Two Georgia men are behind bars after a routine traffic stop turned into a drug-and-weapons bust Thursday On Charley Creek Road near Chesapeake.

Antonio J. Whitehead, 21, of Macon Ga., was charged with possession of crack cocaine and carrying a concealed weapon.

A passenger in his car, Johnifer D. Barnwell, 22, also of Macon, was charged with possession of crack cocaine.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Chad Canter stopped the Whitehead’s vehicle for a lane violation just after midnight Thursday.

During the traffic stop both men gave false information about their identities. When Canter determined the information to be false, he arrested Whitehead.

A loaded handgun and a baggie with 100 grams of crack cocaine was allegedly found on Whitehead’s person during a body search.

Barnwell was found to have an outstanding warrant for alleged crimes in West Virginia.

When the rental car was searched, authorities allegedly found several small baggies with various amounts of crack cocaine in them. In addition to the 102 grams of crack, authorities also seized $1,168 in cash. oth men were taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
