Weather causes travel problems

While it may not have been a major snowfall in terms of inches, Saturday’s wintry weather created havoc on roadways nonetheless.
Both the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office reported multiple accidents throughout the day and early evening due to icy patches on pavement throughout the county.
“As of now (7:15 p.m.) we have probably had 18 accidents, maybe a little less. Some we’re working on now,” Ohio State Highway Patrol Dispatcher G. LeBlanc said.
“They’re on random roads.”
Sheriff’s deputies also stayed busy with numerous calls, mostly single vehicle accidents, authorities said. A few accidents were reported in the city of Ironton as well.
No injuries were reported in any of the accidents as of press time.
The weather forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies today with a 50 percent chance of snow showers. The high temperature will be near 30 degrees. Tonight look for
partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the teens. Monday the forecast calls for partly sunny skies with temperatures in the lower 40s.
