WHEELERSBURG — Orpha (Sue) Franse Crank Smith, 59, of Wheelersburg, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Cornerstone in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va.

The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 6, 1952, a daughter of the late William T. Franse and Goldie M. Hackworth Franse.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Smith. Sue was a 1971 graduate of Ironton High School. She was a member of Etna Missionary Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.

Sue is survived by a son, David (Jessica) Crank, Jr. and stepson David Smith of Wheelersburg; a brother, Jim Murnahan; a sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Alvie Crank all of Ironton and two precious granddaughters, Juliana and Makayla Crank.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin Murnahan, David Murnahan and Billy Joe Franse.

Funeral services will be noon Monday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to noon Monday prior to the service.
