Man gets eight years for University Mart robberies

A man who twice robbed the University Mart in Ironton was sentenced to eight years in prison Thursday.
Raymond F. Brown, 35, of 2529 State Route 243, Ironton, pleaded guilty in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to a bill of information that included two counts of aggravated robbery as well as fifth-degree theft and vandalism.
Brown robbed the University Mart twice in July — once on July 22 and again on July 25.
Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Brown to 11 months for each of the fifth-degree felonies and eight years in prison for the aggravated robbery charges.
Brown’s sentences will be served concurrently for a total of eight years in prison.
