Someone put a lid on the basket.

The Rock Hill Redwomen could convert from the field or the foul line in a 50-40 loss Saturday to the Wellston Lady Golden Rockets.

Rock Hill was just 13 of 33 from the foul line and could manage just 12 fields goals.

Wellston was able to connect on 21 of 43 free throws.

“We put ourselves in position to win the game, we just have to hit free throws and layups,” said Rock Hill coach Matt Fulks.

“We missed 20 free throws and at least 15 layups. We could pressure them pretty good, but we got in foul trouble and we just didn’t have enough people. We’d get steals and miss layups.”

Chelsea Harper had 11 points and Courtney Duncan 10 to lead the Redwomen (0-6).

Taylor Mullins and Tiffany Wires had 11 points each for Wellston.

On Thursday, the Redwomen dropped a 71-32 decision to the River Valley Lady Raiders in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Rock Hill was down just 13-8 at the end of the first quarter before River Valley took a 36-20 halftime lead.

The Lady Raiders then outscored the Redwomen 35-12 in the second half.

“We just didn’t rebound. We played pretty good he first half, but they missed shots and would get the rebound and put it back in,” said Fulks. “They probably had 30 points just rebounding missed shots.”

Harper led Rock Hill with 15 points including three 3-pointers.
