Crash kills South Point man

A South Point teenager remains at Cabell Huntington Hospital following a crash that took the life of the driver.

Jennifer Mitchell, 16, was transported to Cabell following the accident on Charlie Creek Road in South Point at 10:34 p.m. Thursday. At the time of the accident, Mitchell was listed as having non-life threatening injuries, according to a press release from the Ironton Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Killed in the crash was Roman “Corey” Taylor, 18, of South Point, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor was driving a 2001 Pontiac northbound on County Road 144, also known as Charlie Creek Road, when it went off the left side of the roadway, striking a tree.

Also in the car was Devin Lee Kruel, 19, also of South Point, who refused medical treatment at the scene, according to the release.

The crash remains under investigation. Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements for Taylor.
