OLBH golf benefit raises more than $30k

RUSSELL, Ky. — Officials with the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) Auxiliary announced its annual golf benefit (which took place June 4 at the Bellefonte Country Club) was a success which raised more than $30,000.

The annual scramble tournament included the traditional post-tournament 19th Hole cocktail party, which included a silent auction.

Proceeds from the benefit, party and silent auction will benefit the Jonathan Ferguson Endowment Fund and OLBH’s Mobile Health Center.

The Ferguson endowment provides financial and benevolent assistance for various programs including Pediatrics, Oncology and the hospital’s annual Christmas party for indigent children.

The monies designated for the mobile center will purchase digital mammography equipment which will double the center’s daily capacity for mammograms.

“Everyone with the auxiliary is very pleased by this year’s event,” Luann Serey, director of OLBH Community Services, said. “The type of success we experienced this year is a testament to the work of the many volunteers who assist in making this event happen. It takes a talented and dedicated group of people to accomplish this large undertaking. Knowing these funds will support and promote a healthy community is very rewarding.”

Hospice seeks entries for ‘Chairs for Charity’ event

ASHLAND, Ky. — Community Hospice is seeking entries for its Chairs for Charity event to be held Friday, Oct. 1. Area residents, craftsmen and artists are ask to paint or decorate a chair, stool, small table, mirror or other small furniture items to donate to Community Hospice.

The Chairs for Charity items will be on display at the Pendleton Arts Center during Downtown Ashland’s First Friday events on October 1.

There will be a silent auction throughout the evening and will conclude with a live auction of several of the donated pieces.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the programs and services of Community Hospice.
