Unbeaten no more.

Last season, the South Point Pointers went unbeaten in the regular season. Entering Tuesday’s game, the Huntington (W.Va.) St. Joseph Fighting Irish were unbeaten in six games.

But the Pointers ended any thoughts of going unbeaten as they routed the Irish 69-35.

“We shot the ball real well and took them out of their game,” said Poitners coach Gary Norris. “We kind of bounced back.”

Norris was referring to a tough Ohio Valle Conference loss on Monday at Coal Grove. The Pointers rebounded well as Chase Kratzenberg scored 24 points for the second straight night.

Ethan Prater added 10 points and Jordan Fletcher had nine for a balanced Pointers’ offense.

Khiry Sharp scored 12 for the Irish.

Kwanis Haynes and Sharp had five points each in the first quarter as the Irish took a 15-11 lead. Kratzenberg had seven points for South Point.

But the Pointers held St. Joseph to five points in the second quarter and rallied to take a 29-20 halftime lead.

The spread went to 45-29 after three quarters and then Kratzenberg scored seven more in the fourth quarter as South Point exploded for 24 points.

The Pointers hosts Fairland on Friday.
