The Green Lady Bobcats just needed a little pick-me-up.

A big second quarter lifted the Lady Bobcats to a 57-43 win over the Greenup County (Ky.) Lady Musketeers on Monday.

“We started off sluggish the first quarter, but the girls really picked it up in the second quarter,” said Green coach Dale Royse. “I was pleased overall.”

Ashlee Runyon hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter as Green clung to a 12-11 lead.

But in the second quarter the Lady Bobcats held Greenup to only two points. Lauren Jones scored eight points in the quarter as Green built a 30-13 halftime cushion.

The Lady Bobcats led 39-22 after three quarters and they converted 12-of-13 free throws in the fourth quarter after Greenup County began fouling with four minutes to play.

“We shot free throws really well,” said Royse. “They really came after us with pressure and we handled it well.”

Jones finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Green (10-6). Runyon scored 15 points and had three assists while Adrianne Blankenship got 11 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists.

Megan Isaac scored 13 points to pace Greenup County (4-10).
