An Ironton man was sentenced Wednesday to four years of probation for attempted burglary.

John Foster, 38, of 400 Township Road 336, pleaded guilty to the fourth-degree felony in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Foster to four years of community-control sanctions, a condition of which will be to successfully complete an appointment at the STAR Community Justice Center in Franklin Furnace.

Seventeen months in prison have been reserved for Foster in case he violates the terms of his CCS. His sentence will run concurrently with a sentence from Lawrence County Municipal Court, the judge ruled.

In other cases:

• Russell Adkins, 21, of 826 C S. Tenth St., Ironton, admitted to violating the terms of his community-control sanctions.

Bowling sentenced Adkins to 12 months in prison.

• William Pence, 25, of 52 Private Drive 2151, South Point, admitted to violating CCS by not paying restitution or completing his community service as he was ordered to.

Bowling gave Adkins the choice of paying $250 toward restitution and spending six months in prison or serving eight months in prison without paying the restitution.

• Leslie Wilks, 37, of 396 County Road 70 lot 38, Proctorville, denied violating CCS. Bowling set a CCS trial for next week.

• Wilburn L. Pauley, 48, of 653 County Road 15, South Point, pleaded not guilty to fifth-degree breaking and entering and fourth-degree theft from an elderly person.

Bowling set bond at $10,000 on his own recognizance and $5,000 cash.
