ELO sang “The Lights Go Down.” But it wasn’t a pleasant tune for Coal Grove residents on Wednesday, especially the girls’ basketball team.
A power outage due to the high winds left a large portion of the Coal Grove school district without power and forced school to be cancelled. It also created confusion for the Lady Hornet players who were scattered to other homes where there was power.
All that meant a postponement of the Ohio Valley Conference showdown between the South Point Lady Pointers and Coal Grove. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday with the junior varsity beginning at 6 p.m.
Coal Grove also plays at River Valley on Monday in a makeup game.
River Valley was involved in some bad luck on Wednesday. The Lady Raiders pulled into the parking lot at Rock Hill for a makeup game and the power went out and couldn’t be restored.
The game has been rescheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. before the Rock Hill boys host Oak Hill.
