Raiders outscore Fairland, 75-73

This game was three-mendous.

The River Valley Raiders rallied for an exciting 75-73 win over the Fairland Dragons on Friday as the two teams combined for 18 3-point goals.

The loss was even more costly for the Dragons who had a chance to tie for the Ohio Valley Conference lead after Chesapeake lost to South Point. Fairland is 11-6 overall and 5-3 in the OVC.

Fairland made 10 treys with Chris Ward knocking down five long-range shots as he scored 20 points. Cole Hatfield had 15 points and Zach Jordan 14. The two combined for five shots from behind the arc.

Clayton Curnutte had only two triples but scored 26 points for River Valley. Cody McAvena scored 14 points and he made four 3-pointers and Kody Johnson scored 10 including a trifecta.

River Valley took a 23-19 lead in the first quarter before Fairland closed to within 38-36 at the half.

The Dragons came out strong in the third quarter and took a 62-56 lead. But River Valley rallied and outscored Fairland 19-11 in the fourth quarter.
