A Kitts Hill man avoided an often lengthy trip through the criminal justice system by pleading guilty on a bill of information to the charges against him Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Timothy T. Sanders, 22, of 70 Private Drive 2560, Kitts Hill, pleaded guilty to complicity to breaking and entering and receiving stolen property.

Judge D. Scott Bowling ordered Sanders to successfully complete a rehabilitation program at the STAR Community Justice Center and four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP) on the complicity charge and 90 days in jail on the second charge, to be served concurrently.

Sanders was arrested June 29, along with a codefendant, Gregory S. Spears Jr., 22, of 3116 S. Fourth St., Ironton. Spears is charged with breaking and entering and receiving stolen property. The case against him is pending. They are accused of stealing a lawn mower.

Also Wednesday, George Yancey, 25, of 207 Third St. E. No. 3, South Point, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. Bowling sentenced Yancey to a total of 17 months in prison.
