After not showing up for one prison sentence, a Pedro man finds himself facing another one that’s even longer than the first.
Lowney E. Dossey, 29, of 216 Township Road 146 W., Pedro, was sentenced Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to 12 months in prison for third-degree escape.
Dossey had been sentenced previously to 11 months in prison for felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor assault and criminal damaging. He was charged with third-degree escape after he did not show up for his prison sentence last year.
Dossey’s one year in prison will run consecutively with the previously imposed sentence of 11 months for a total of just less than 2 years, Judge Charles Cooper ruled.
In other cases:
Kenneth J. Bentley, 22, of 832 Turley Ave., Flatwoods, Ky., pleaded guilty to two counts of fourth-degree theft.
Cooper sentenced Bentley to four years of community-control sanctions. One of the conditions of Bentley’s community-control sanctions will be to successfully complete an appointment to the STAR Community Justice Center in Franklin Furnace.
A total of 34 months in prison — 17 for each of the two counts — has been reserved for Bentley in case he violates CCS.
Bentley and co-defendant William Eastham, 38, of 717 Buckhorn St., Ironton, stole lumber from a construction site in Ironton.
Cooper sentenced Eastham last week to eight months in prison for theft and another eight months for a CCS violation.
Cooper told Bentley Wednesday that he was getting a lighter sentence than Eastham because he had no prior criminal record and because he’s young.
Aaron Elswick, 23, of 2444 S. Sixth St., Ironton, admitted violating the terms of his community-control sanctions.
Cooper sentenced Elswick to five months in prison after which his CCS would be terminated.
Patricia Blackburn, 42, of Lincoln Park, Michigan, pleaded not guilty to a bill of information that includes possession of heroin, trafficking in heroin, possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs.
By proceeding with a bill of information, Blackburn waived her right to a grand jury.
Bond is set at $20,000 cash or surety and Blackburn remains in the Lawrence County Jail.
