COAL GROVE — A tree limb fell onto electric lines in front of the Coal Grove Village Hall, causing a power outage Tuesday afternoon.
The incident caused electric lines to fall onto the townhouse roof, causing damage to the building, Mayor Larry McDaniel said.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. during a thunderstorm. Electric was knocked out for a while at the village hall and surrounding area, but was restored by 7 p.m.
The electric lines burned a hole in the townhouse’s gutter. Village employees were sent home shortly after the incident. The village hall usually closes at 3 p.m.
“We don’t know about the computers yet. We’ve got surge protectors,” McDaniel said of the damage.
A village council meeting slated for Tuesday evening was canceled. The next village council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 3.
