Mina and Darwin Ellis, of Chesapeake, will celebrate their 70th anniversary the afternoon of July 31 with an open house reception at the Getaway Community Church fellowship hall on State Route 243, Getaway.

They were married July 31, 1941, by the Rev. W.S. Billups at his home in Ironton. Mr. Ellis is the son of the late Elisha and Anna Ashworth and a retired truck driver for Schwerman Trucking Co. Mrs. Ellis is the daughter of the late Preston and Blanch Hite Clonch.

They are the parents of Glenn Ellis of Chesapeake, Larry “Butch” Ellis of Willow Wood and John Hood of Willow Wood. They also have seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
