Anyone who is just learning to use a computer and needs help with email is invited to an Email Basics workshop at the South Point location of Briggs Lawrence County Public Library on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Learn to set up a free email account or if you receive an email account from your internet service, bring your user name and password along with the provider’s name. You will receive hands-on assistance in navigating your account.

Briggs Library is partnering with the AARP to offer a Driver Safety Class Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Southern Branch Library in South Point. The four-hour class is designed for any motorist age 50 and over. The course fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for nonmembers, due the day of the class. Preregistration is required. The Crochet Club will meet at the Chesapeake library at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Please bring a “G” or “H” hook and yarn. For information call (740) 377-2288.

Senior citizens, if you love bowling or would like to learn the game without using a heavy ball and special shoes, you’re invited to join us for Wii Bowling. Using the Nintendo Wii, you’ll enjoy this video game sensation that sweeping senior centers and assisted living facilities across the country so much you may want to form your own league. Seniors ages 55 and up are invited to the Ironton library meeting room at 3 p.m. Tuesday for the virtual fun.

Everyone’s invited to join a Briggs Library Book Discussion Club. Four groups meet this week. On Wednesday, the Chesapeake Branch Library group will discuss “Kissing Games of the World” by Sandi Kahn Shelton at 11 a.m. and the Ironton afternoon group will meet at the Main Library to talk about “After the Fire” by Belva Plain at 2:30 p.m. On Thursday, the Sybene Senior Center group will discuss “The Saving Graces” by Patricia Gaffney at 12:45 p.m. and the Eastern Branch group will talk about “Fall on Your Knees” by Ann-Marie MacDonald at 2 p.m. at the Proctorville library.

Seniors aren’t the only ones playing games at the library this week. Teens in grades six through 12 are invited for a Game-A-Palooza featuring the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360, scheduled at each Briggs Library location. The Game-A-Palooza schedule is: South Point at 4 p.m. Monday; Ironton at 6 p.m. Tuesday; Symmes Valley at 3 p.m. Wednesday; Proctorville at 6 p.m. Thursday; Chesapeake at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23

The Briggs Library children’s program schedule resumes this week with activities for young children featuring books, crafts, songs games and fun. The weekly children’s program schedule is: Storytime for ages three to five: Ironton at 11 a.m. Monday; Symmes Valley at 5 p.m. Monday; Proctorville at 11 a.m. Tuesday; South Point at 11 a.m. Wednesday; Chesapeake at 11 a.m. Thursday; Symmes Valley at 11 a.m. Saturday (repeat of Monday program)
