An Ironton woman will serve prison time for drug offenses, a judge ruled Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Rhonda Robinson, 50, of 1212 1/2 South Sixth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty May 12 to four counts of deception to obtain dangerous drugs and one count of attempted deception to obtain a dangerous drug. Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Robinson Wednesday to a total of four years in prison with credit for time served.

“I’m really sorry,” Robinson told the court. “I messed up.”

In other cases:

Alexa N. Keaton, 20, of 121 Township Road 1105, Proctorville, admitted violating the terms of her community control sanctions by not completing a term at the STAR Community Justice Center. Cooper sentenced Keaton to six months in prison.

Emory Burke, 30, of 104 Scott Ave., Ironton, denied violating his CCS by failing to successfully complete a term at the STAR Community Justice Center. Cooper set a pretrial for June 15.

Seth Coleman, 18, of 918 Adams St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to a burglary charge. Coleman is accused of pushing his way into the home of an elderly Ironton woman and stealing $1. If convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison. Cooper continued a bond of $50,000 cash or $60,000 property and set a pretrial hearing for June 15.

Brent Goody, 31, of 373 Township Road 297, Ironton, pleaded guilty to domestic violence. Cooper sentenced him to four years of CCS that includes the successful completion of a program at STAR.

Goody’s charges stem from an incident in which he hit his 13-year-old daughter with a belt.

The man’s defense attorney, Warren Morford, said his client was frustrated with the girl over what Goody contends was disciplinary problems at home and at school. He said at the time of the crime the man had found the girl cutting herself. His response to the girl’s self-injury was “overboard,” Morford said.

Goody said the incident was the first time he had “whipped” the girl, who had allegedly been a bully to him and her mother among others.

Lawrence County Assistant Prosecutor Brigham Anderson said a school nurse reported the incident when she noticed marks on the girl’s arms and legs.

Brent Bell, 36, of 537 Coal Bank Hollow, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to possession of criminal tools and breaking and entering.

Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety and set a pretrial hearing for June 8.
