The 4th Annual Household Hazardous Waste Event (HHW) conducted by the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste District on Sept. 26 was a great success!
The rain did not dampen the spirits of those attending; the constant lineup of cars continued until the closing of the event at 1 p.m. A record 276 vehicles participated this year.
The district would like to thank Troy DeHoff, Dow site manager, and Carl Darling, Americas-Styrenics site manager, for allowing us to conduct this event at their plant. This great location allows us to run this collection event in a professional and efficient manner.
I would also like to thank Sheriff Jeff Lawless for his support and cooperation in allowing us to have our first pharmaceutical collection.
We collected 5 pounds of aerosols; 20 pounds of liquid medicines; 120 pounds of medicines (solids); 5 pounds of unused needles.
Lastly, I thank you the participants for properly disposing of your tires, chemicals, electronics, medicines, etc., at this collection event.
