Event set for May 17; Will benefit 4-H program
ROME TOWNSHIP — The first Lawrence County Trade Day is set for May 17 and reservations are being taken for vendors.
The event will run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, located at 7757 County Road 107 in Rome Township, organizer Montana Runnels said.
Runnels said the cost to set up is $25 and those interested can contact her at 740-547-9402 by May 1.
She said all proceeds raised by the event will go to Lawrence County 4-H, to purchase turkey pens and pay for arena expenses. A turkey show has been added to the lineup of 4-H competitions this year and Runnels said there are 30 4-H and FFA members taking part in its initial year.
Runnels said she has a large lineup of vendors so far for trade day, including antiques, livestock (including chickens and ducks), crafts, T-shirts, animal items and individuals hosting a yard sale selection.
In addition, she said there will be food trucks and a chainsaw carver doing live art.
She said admission to the event is $5 and children 12 and under get in free. There is no cost to park.
In addition, Runnels reminded the public of this year’s county fair.
“It’s from July 7-12 and we would like everyone to come,” she said.
