Lady Bobcats rout New Boston to tune-up for showdown

FRANKLIN FURNACE — It was tune-up time.
The Green Lady Bobcats beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 64-31 in a Southern Ohio Conference 1 to head into Monday’s showdown at Portsmouth Notre Dame.
Green is 15-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference. The Lady Bobcats can win the league title outright with a victory. Notre Dame needs a win to share the title with Green.
Matti Hayslip drilled a pair of 3-pointers and scored 7 points with Abbie Knapp scored 11 points and Green built an 18-9 first quarter lead.
Arenda Gosselin scored 7 of New Boston’s 9 points in the quarter.
Knapp scored 6 points, Elizabeth McBee had 4 points and Addison Blizzard hit a 3-pointer as the lead went to 31-19 at the half.
Gosselin hit a 3-pointer and scored 7 points while Brooklyn Boyer added a trey for the Lady Tigers in the second quarter.
Mylee Brown and Ava Abrams had 3-pointers while Hayslip and Knapp combined to make 5 of 6 at the foul line and the lead was 42-26.
Green put the game away in the fourth quarter as Knapp pumped in 8 points, Hayslip hit a trey and scored 5 points and Brown added 4 points as the Lady Bobcats outscored New Boston 20-5.
Knapp finished with a game-high 28 points with Hayslip scoring 14.
Gosselin scored 20 points for New Boston (6-11, 2-4).

PORTSMOUTH — Daysha Reid scored 29 points as the unbeaten Portsmouth Lady Trojans beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 65-20 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Reid hit three 3-pointers and scored 19 points as Portsmouth raced to a 27-5 first quarter lead.
Reid scored 7 more points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 43-8 at the half.
Hayden Carter had 4 points with Keke Woods and Reid each hitting 3-pointers and it was 58-17 after three quarters.
J’lynn Risner scored 11 points to lead Rock Hill (6-12, 1-10).
