Buchanan, Barnitz nominated for McDonald’s games

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – This just in, five of the Huntington and Charleston-area’s top basketball players have been nominated for a chance to play in the 2025 McDonald’s All American Games on April 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Two of the players are members of the Fairland Dragons and Lady Dragons teams. Senior guard Brody Buchanan and senior guard Kamryn Barnitz were nominated for selection.
Buchanan has signed with Rio Grande and Barnitz with West Florida.
Players were nominated by a high school coach, athletic director, principal or member of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee based on competitive criteria. The Huntington-area players nominated to play in this year’s games are:
· Braydon Hawthorne, Huntington Expression prep – Huntington
· Cedric Taylor, Huntington Expression prep – Huntington
· Joey Golihue, Chapmanville Regional High School—Chapmanville
· Kamryn Barnitz, Fairland High School— Proctorville
· Brody Buchanan, Fairland High School— Proctorville
The new class of nominees joins an elite group of athletes who, over four decades, have been nominated for a chance to play in the nation’s premiere showcase – including today’s top stars such as Candace Parker, Trae Young, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, Breanna Stewart, and many more stars of the NBA and WNBA.

The top 24 girls and 24 boys will be revealed later this month and announced across ESPN’s various social and digital platforms.

For fans who can’t make it out to Brooklyn, the 2025 McDonald’s All American Games will start with the Girls Game on Tuesday, April 1 at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and the Boys Game will immediately follow on ESPN at 9:00 p.m. ET.
