SOUTH POINT — As Monday evening’s rainy weather tapered off, families gathered at the community center in South Point for a Christmas celebration
The event was organized by People for the Point and featured cookies, hot chocolate and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
“We are doing outreach to the community,” Kelli Fryer, secretary for the nonprofit, which has organized events in the village for a decade, said.
In addition to events inside, several area churches took part in a caroling ride through town, meeting at the community center lot and being towed on a route through the village on a trailer.
Mayor Jeff Gaskin said it was the second year for the carolers, and a new trailer had been donated for this year’s event.
