GREENUP, Ky. ­— While silver is the traditional color for a 25th anniversary, the Greenup Old Tractors, Engines, and Machinery (GOTEM) club is more likely to celebrate with green, red, yellow and orange, the traditional colors of farm equipment.
GOTEM will be hosting a tractor show, which has been going strong for a quarter of a century, today at the Farm Bureau grounds at the intersection of U.S. 23 and Route 2 on the edge of Greenup, Kentucky. And it will be easy to find, not only by the sight of all those tractors but the sound of them.
The celebration kicked off with a tractor drive on Thursday night, covering a 10-mile route in about two hours
This year’s featured tractor is a 1954 John Deere Model 60 owned by Zach Slone, and the featured engine is a 1928 XK ¾ horsepower economy owned by Josh Brewer. But there will be plenty of other antiques to see.
Saturday starts with kids’ games at 10 a.m. with tractor pulls following. The afternoon brings kiddie tractor pulls, tractor games and the annual scholarship auction, which includes farm items, toys and miscellaneous items.

There will be farm-related vendors on site as well as a chair saw artist demonstrating his skill. Raffle sales will go on throughout the show with winners announced at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Those wandering through the grounds will find both antique and new tractors, farm machinery and implements, handcrafted quilts and more. Lunch will be served starting at 11 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and the club’s famous ice cream will be served after 2 p.m. each day.
The club will take a break in organized activities mid-afternoon on Saturday when the tractors will set off to take part in the Old Fashion Days parade. Their line-up will begin at 3 p.m. to join the parade for its 4 p.m. start.
Golf carts will be permitted on the grounds but no ATVs. A speed limit of 5 miles per hour will be in place.
