The Four W’s of Life Surge Explained

Life Surge, a rapidly growing Christian-centered business founded by Joe Johnson, has introduced a unique approach to integrating faith and business. This approach, known as the “Four W’s of Kingdom Impact,” forms the foundation of Life Surge’s mission to inspire, transform, and equip believers for success in the marketplace.

“When people come to Life Surge they’re going to experience what we call the Four W’s of Kingdom Impact,” Johnson says.

Worship: The Foundation of Faith-Driven Business

The first “W” in Life Surge’s framework is worship. Johnson emphasizes that this concept goes beyond traditional religious services. For this spiritual movement, worship encompasses a holistic approach to honoring God through all aspects of life, including business practices.

Life Surge events provide attendees with opportunities for communal worship, creating an atmosphere of shared faith and purpose.

“When you’re surrounded with thousands of people, and you’re worshiping together, and you’re learning together, and you’re being challenged together,” says Rob Collins, Life Surge’s chief marketing officer. “That’s really powerful.”

Wisdom: Practical Knowledge for Kingdom-Minded Entrepreneurs

The second “W” focuses on acquiring wisdom. Life Surge aims to bridge the gap between spiritual teachings and practical business acumen. Johnson explains, “We believe you’re not going to have true transformation unless you can really equip people with true practical strategies.”

Life Surge events feature speakers who share their expertise and experiences, offering attendees valuable insights into successful, faith-driven business practices. The organization has attracted high-profile speakers such as Tim Tebow, Bethany Hamilton, and Nick Vujicic, who provide both inspiration and practical advice.

“The fundamental foundation of Life Surge is surging your life God’s way and really reaching the full potential of what God does have for you,” Vujicic said on the Crossmap YouTube channel at the National Religious Broadcaster’s Convention. “Many people give their life to Jesus Christ at every single event.”

Work: Redefining the Purpose of Business

The third “W” stands for work. Life Surge challenges the traditional dichotomy between sacred and secular work, encouraging believers to view their business endeavors as a form of ministry.

“God really does have a plan for people to have to make work their ministry,” adds Jeremy Nosek, chief strategy officer at Life Surge. “And even more than that, that really is maybe the ultimate ministry in 2024, while church attendance is on a decline.”

Life Surge advocates for bringing Christian faith into the marketplace, viewing it as an opportunity to influence culture and reach people who might not otherwise encounter the message.

Wealth: Stewardship and Kingdom Impact

The fourth and perhaps most complicated “W” is wealth. Life Surge addresses the often-taboo subject of wealth creation within Christian circles, positioning it as a means for more significant kingdom impact rather than personal gain.

“Out of those four W’s, the one that’s controversial is the word wealth. Most of our attendees would not consider worship, wisdom, or work controversial,” adds Johnson. “They’re OK with that.”

Life Surge takes a balanced approach to wealth, focusing on stewardship and practical strategies for resource creation and multiplication. The organization aims to fill a void left by many churches that avoid discussing wealth creation, providing guidance for Christians seeking to build financial resources for kingdom purposes.

The Four W’s in Action

Life Surge’s approach to education goes beyond theoretical concepts. The organization provides practical tools and strategies to help attendees implement the Four W’s in their businesses and lives.

“We’re big believers that in what we’re teaching in education, that these are real-life skills,” says Nosek. “And so it’s much more of a subject to be mastered than it is a topic to be studied.”

The curriculum offers a blend of online and in-person education, incorporating top-tier tools to help people analyze investment opportunities and develop personalized strategies. This practical focus sets Life Surge apart from organizations that offer inspiration without actionable steps.

Johnson says Life Surge has grown 46,000% in the last three years, and plans to extend its reach through virtual events.

“We don’t really think too much about what is Life Surge’s legacy. We are too preoccupied thinking about what is the legacy of our attendees,” he states.

Through its Four W’s framework, Life Surge is creating a new generation of Christian entrepreneurs equipped to make a lasting impact on both the marketplace and their faith communities. By providing a holistic approach that addresses worship, wisdom, work, and wealth, it connects faith and business, empowering believers to live out their calling in all aspects of their lives.

“At Life Surge, we’re actively participating in the ‘next great move of God,’” Johnson shared.
