Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Elizabeth Lynn Patterson, went home to meet her savior with peace and grace surrounded by her family on Wednesday at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was 85 years old.

Lynn was the daughter of the late William Hogan and the late Joe and Rae Rucker.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 53 years, Stanley (Pete) Patterson, her children, grandchildren and all who knew her.

Lynn was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and Ohio University College of Education.

She taught in the Rock Hill School District from which she retired after 32 years of teaching. During her teaching career, she was the recipient of the Jennings Scholar Award given to teachers for excellence in contributing to the development of students from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Lynn was also a member of the Eastern Star, earning all five points of the star.

Lynn was a faithful Christian who shared her love of Jesus with her family and friends. She was a very active member of Sharon Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved her church family of friends and her pastor, Steve Harvey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Larry Hogan; and her son-in-law, Larry Bishop.

With her husband, Pete, those left to cherish her memory are son, Donnie (Nicole) Speaks; daughters, Kim Bishop, Cathy (Darrell) Barker and Karen (Joe) Unger; grandchildren, Joe (Amy) Speaks, Kris (Mary) Bishop, Mandy (Mark) Palmer, Beth (Ryan) Townsend, Izsak Unger, Laiken Unger, Joseph (Sunni) Unger and Rian (Rob) Brandenburg; great-grandchildren Madyson Palmer, Kendal Speaks and Beckett and Baylar Townsend.

Phillips funeral home will be assisting in the graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sharon Baptist Church, Community Hospice or the Lawrence County Humane Society.

Miss me but let me go,

for this is the journey we all must take

and each must go alone,

it’s all part of the master plan,

a step on the road to Home.
