GREENUP, Ky. — Local artists are invited to set up for free and sell their wares during Greenup, Kentucky’s Final Friday this Friday from 6-9 p.m.
“It’s called Imagination Alley,” said Cat Shaffer. “What we are doing is inviting all artists, authors, crafters, anybody creative to come down and sell their stuff. We would love to have people out there painting or whatever they do.”
Shaffer said that the goal is to show what local artists have to offer.
“This area pushes musicians like nobody’s business, but we don’t really appreciate the writers, the artists, the people who make hand-crafted items,” she said. “We want everyone to be able to show off what they can do.”
Shaffer said they are not charging artists to set up because it is difficult enough to try and make a living for artists, so they want to help them out a little bit. Anyone sets up is asked to bring their own tables, tents and chairs.
Imagination Alley will be on Harrison Street in downtown Greenup next to the courthouse. Set up is at 5 p.m. and there is no registration required.
“They just need to pick a space and set up,” Shaffer said. “We’re pretty loose about it.”
She said that several people have already expressed interest in attending including a couple of authors, an artist and someone who does handcrafts.
The event is being sponsored by Fat Cat Publishing, a multimedia print company based in Greenup, Kentucky that owns the Greenup Gazette.
“We are also encouraging everyone to come to Final Friday as well,” Shaffer said. “There will be a golf cart rodeo, which if you have never seen one is really interesting. There will be children’s activities and food vendors.”
