Thank you for another great Memorial Day parade

Once again, Ironton was the site of another successful parade.
Every year, the Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade attracts thousands of people who gather along the parade route to honor the those who died in the line of military service.
It is always an impressive parade with so many groups participating from veterans to first responders to re-enactors to school bands to office holders and so many more.
And among the guests was actress Rita Moreno, who is the most famous name to see the parade since Gov. Ted Strickland was in the parade in 2008.
Moreno was gracious enough to have a talk at Ohio University Southern on Sunday and from social media posts and chatter, it was a wonderful event.
As always, The Tribune would like to thank all those who make the parade a success year after year, decade after decade. We commend the parade committee that organizes this massive event year after year and has ceremonies at the cemetery and the Ironton landing to honor the fallen.
We thank the groups that clean up before and after the parade. And we commend the Ironton Public Works department that went through town replacing flags that had broken staffs after the high winds blew through downtown on Wednesday.
You all help Ironton and Lawrence County put its best foot forward year after year and your efforts are appreciated.
