Lady Dragons tune up for postseason

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Dragons finished off the regular season in good fashion and set their sights on the postseason.
The Lady Dragons closed out the regular season on Friday with a 16-1 run rule win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Fairland (14-6, 11-3) will host Vinton County 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Division 2 sectional tournament.
Chesapeake (5-17, 3-11) will be at home against Oak Hill at 5 p.m. Monday in the Division 3 sectional tournament.
Kaylee Salyer and Katy Bell combined to shut down the Lady Panthers. Salyer went 3 innings, did not allow a hit or run, struck out 8 or the 9 outs and did not walk a batter. Bell worked 2 innings giving up 2 hits, an earned run, with 4 strikeouts and one walk.
Salyer helped her own cause as she went 3-3 with a double, home run and 4 runs batted in. Ally Shepherd was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Katie Dehart 1-2 with an RBI, Jordan Spencer 1-3 with 3 RBI, Makena Black 1-3 with a double and RBI, Hailey Sammons 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Mai McKinley2-3, AubreyHayes 1-2 with an RBI and Bell was 2-3 with 2 RBI.
McKenna Brown and Raelee Maynard each went 1-2 for Chesapeake.
