HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall running back Rasheen Ali was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.
Ali represented the first Sun Belt Conference player selected in the 2024 NFL Draft when the Ravens took him in the 5th Round with the 165th overall pick.
“I’m extremely happy for Rasheen and his family,” Huff said. “He’s a young man who stayed here at Marshall when he could have left. He and his family trusted the process and now he gets to chase his dreams at the highest level. I’m really happy for him and for the Ravens’ organization.”
Ali finished with 1,135 yards and 15 touchdowns this season while also hauling in 28 passes for 213 yards and a score, which earned him invites to the East-West Shrine Bowl and the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
The 6-foot, 209-pound running back from Cleveland, Ohio was an All-Sun Belt Conference Second-Team selection and was 10th in scoring among position players in FBS in 2023 with 16 total touchdowns in 12 games. He had six games in which he scored multiple touchdowns this season.
Ali is one of just five players in Marshall football history to have multiple 1,000-yard seasons, having accomplished the feat in 2023 and in 2021.
During that 2021 season, Ali rushed for 1,401 yards while tying for the FBS lead in rushing touchdowns with 23 – numbers that landed him on the 2021 FWAA Freshman All-American team.
In Ali’s 34 career games, he amassed 3,569 all-purpose yards (2,831 rushing, 565 receiving) while scoring 43 touchdowns (39 rushing, four receiving).
