Errors plague Lady Hornets in loss to Russell

COAL GROVE — Errors are part of the game.
A bad part.
The Coal Grove Lady Hornets made 6 errors that led to 9 unearned runs in an 11-1 loss to the Russell Lady Red Devils on Tuesday.
Russell (10-3) snapped a scoreless tie with 2 runs in the top of the fourth.
Paige Hutchinson singled, Aubrey Patel walked, Bella Hall put down a sacrifice and Reese Cameron reached on an error as both runners scored.
Coal Grove got its run in the bottom of the inning when Rylee Black smacked a home run.
Russell opened up an 8-1 lead with 6 runs in the fifth.
Ella Wilson singled, Jayla Chalupa walked, Karson Honaker was hit by a pitch, Gabby Oborne singled,. Bella Hall and Reese Cameron both reached on errors and Ava Howard was safe on a missed fly ball.
In the sixth, Oborne tripled and scored when Hutchinson reached on an error. Patel then hit a 2-run home run.
Abbie Deeds got the loss although she only gave up 5 hits, struck out 9 and walked 2.
Black was 2-3 with the home run to pace the offense. Kendall Taylor went 1-2 while Kasey Vanderhoof and Mia Haynes were 1-3.
