LOGAN — The Portsmouth Lady Trojans are doing something that has never been done in the history of the girls’ basketball program.

They’re going to the state tournament.

Portsmouth beat the North Adams Lady Green Devils 42-25 on Saturday in the Division 3 regional championship to earn a trip to the Final Four.

Portsmouth (22-5) will play Ottawa-Glandorf at 8 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals of the state tournament to be held at the University of Dayton’s UD Arena.

Ottawa-Glandorf beat Margaretta 45-26 in their regional finals.

The other state semifinal game matches Columbus Africentric and LaGrange Keystone at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The finals are 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Sienna Allen scored 15 points as the Lady Trojans used a strong defensive effort to beat North Adams.

The Lady Green Devils’ Kenzie Jones hit a 3-pointer to start the scoring and it proved to be their only lead of the game.

Allen and Keke Woods scored 4 points each as Portsmouth took a 12-7 first quarter lead.

Daysha Reid’s 3-pointer helped open up a 21-11 halftime lead as Portsmouth held North Adams to just 4 points in the second quarter.

The lead was 28-16 after three quarters and the Lady Trojans converted 8-of-11 free throws with Allen going 5-of-5 including a 3-point play.

Katelynn Boerger had 10 points to pace North Adams (21-6).
