Fred William Brewer, 76, of Kitts Hill, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, in Kings Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Fred was born Nov. 28, 1947, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of Ruth Audrey (Dixon) Brewer of Ashland, Kentucky and the late “Bud” Johnson Grant Brewer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Faye (Ball) Brewer.

Fred attended Fairview High School and graduated from Boyd County High School.

Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He was a machinist for AK Steel, a member of Steel Workers Union in Ashland, Kentucky, where he served as the treasurer and a member of the Rail City Dulcimer Club.

Fred was musically gifted, he could play any instrument and was an excellent carpenter.

He deeply loved all of his fur babies.

He was a faithful member of Central Christian Church in Ironton.

Those left to cherish his memory along with his wife, Glenda, include his children, George (Lynn) Grant Brewer, of Watertown, New York, and Teresa (Steve) Lynn Kunze, of Louisa, Kentucky; his brother-in-law, Rusty Ball; nieces, LeeAnn Ball and Robin (Kyle) Doyle; grandchildren, Zach Triplett, Jacob (Rebekah) Goldsby, Kimberly (Matthew) Marcinko, Sherry Halladay, Ashley Brewer, Jake Brewer; many great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bob (Pamm) Brewer, of Fairfield, Illinois, and Schon (Cindy) Brewer, of Keeseville, New York.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Pastor Willie Purdee officiating.

Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery with military gravesite rites provided by the VFW Post 8850.

Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.
