Eagles building, a city landmark, was seen before it was soon to disappear from the scene at Third and Railroad Streets in this 1977 photo. The building was sold to the City of Ironton for the Buckhorn Urban Renewal project and the lodge moved to 1305 South Third Street. Tallest snowman reported in Ironton in this 1977 photo was this 18.5-footer at 1550 South Fourth Street built by Jim and Dan Herrell, Dan and Joyce Gool and Neil Kesterson. The builders started out using a 6-foot stepladder, then went to an 8-footer, and later used a 10-foot ladder to complete the giant, which was slightly taller than a 17-footer built at Moulton Field and a 15-footer built at the South Point community park.
