The Ironton Police Department has arrested a man on drug related charges.
Chief Jim Carey said officers arrested Cameron J. Simmons, 33, of Columbus, around 2:40 a.m. Saturday in the vicinity or Fourth and McGovney streets.
Carey said officers responded to a call of a man and woman fighting at Shenanigans bar that night. When officers arrived, Simmons fled.
The man allegedly dropped a bag of marijuana. Police officers also recovered 32 grams of crack cocaine, five small bags of what is believed to be powder cocaine, 35 Oxycontin pills, six ecstasy pills and a marker that is used on bills to determine if they are counterfeit, Carey said.
The drugs were found in a head covering that Simmons allegedly took off and stashed in the dryer vent of a nearby residence during the chase, Carey said.
Simmons was arraigned Monday in Ironton Municipal Court on charges of possession of drugs, trafficking in drugs, obstructing justice, assault, and tampering with evidence. Bond was set at $100,000, Carey said.
