Ironton has boil water advisory due to water main break

Due to a water main break, The City of Ironton is putting a boil water advisory from South Second Street and Third Street from Monroe Street to Ellison Street.
The city is advising all residents in the area, that until further notice, vigorously boil, for at least one minute, any water used for drinking (including water used to make ice), cooking or oral hygiene.
The City of Ironton Water Plant has no evidence at this time that the water system is contaminated. The possibility does exist however that the water system is contaminated and is issuing this advisory as a precaution.
The water department is conducting an investigation and collecting additional samples and hopes to have this problem corrected soon. An additional notice will be given when the water advisory is lifted.
