Making the city brighter

Over the weekend, a crew from Star Community Justice Center were at work installing two pieces of artwork in downtown Ironton.
They consisted of two designs for crosswalks in the Third and Center area near the Rotary Fountain.
Their installation follows the first of the series, which went into place last weekend, by local artist Jesse Jiles.
The crosswalk art was paid for, in part by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council, secured by nonprofit Third and Center.
The grant also paid for the installation of four artistic bike racks in the fountain area earlier this year.
And the grant funds were matched with donations from locals.
All of these improvements go a long way to making downtown more inviting and vibrant and will be enjoyed by Irontonians for years to come.
We thank Third and Center and all involved for all of their work in helping to improve the aesthetics of our community and look forward to future projects they have planned.
