Air National Guard jets to fly over Ironton Tuesday afternoon

On Tuesday afternoon, a pair of jets from the Ohio Air National Guard’s 180th Fighter Wing will fly over southern Ohio as part of their salute to those on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic in Ohio.
Starting at approximately 5:15 p.m., the planes will fly over Adena Regional hospital continue along U.S. 23 to Adena Pike and Southern Ohio Medical Center, turn towards King’s Daughter’s Medical Center and should be over Ironton around 5:26 p.m. before continuing to Cabell Huntington Hospital and then head north towards Pleasant Valley Hospital in Gallipolis and then to O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens.
“As a reminder, all flights will be conducted in conjunction with regularly scheduled training missions and are subject to change based on mission needs and/or inclement weather,” said an announcement on the 180th Fighter Wing Facebook page. “For the welfare and safety of all Ohioans, residents are encouraged to observe the flybys from home and avoid congregating in large groups in an effort mitigate the spread of COVID-19.”
The fighter wing has been flying over Ohio as part of Operation American Resolve, a salute to healthcare workers, first responders, military members and other essential workers.
