Help needed for Wreaths on Saturday
Published 8:10 am Thursday, January 9, 2020
On Saturday, Dec. 14, Wreaths Across America reached their goal to put a wreath on every veteran’s grave at Woodland Cemetery’s Veterans Hill — a total of 1,133 veterans’ plots.
It was done in honor of WAA co-founders Juanita Southers and Linda Dalton.
I want to thank so many people.
First, my beloved husband, my sisters, their spouses and my children, all the WAA committee members, master of ceremonies Brent Pyles, Leon Dalton, Tim Carpenter, American Legion 806 and 433, VFW 2761, AMVETS 141, Greenup County Junior ROTC, our speaker Mike Belcher, Collins Career Technical students and everyone who came out on that Saturday morning to place the wreaths.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also want to thank anyone who donated money to WAA. It took a lot of individuals to make this happen and, if you get a chance to drive by Veterans Hill, it is so breathtakingly beautiful.
On Saturday, we again need your help to remove the wreaths. Please come if you can and help us. A big thank you to Woodland Cemetery for all their help and support.
Our mission continues to be “Remember, Honor and Teach.”
We will continue to work for Wreaths for 11:30 a.m. Dec 12 of this year, so please mark your calendars.
Sincerely,
Laura Brown
