GETAWAY — Collins Career Technical Center received a donation from CJ Hughes Construction Company of Huntington, West Virginia last week.
A school administrator received a call a few weeks ago from CJ Hughes Superintendent Tyler Gandee asking if the school would be interested in a service truck for the new heavy equipment program.
Gandee, a 2005 graduate from the welding program at Collins, had spoken to company officials about the donation, who gladly agreed.
Last week, Hughes fleet supervisor Perry Brock and Gandee delivered the 2 1/2-ton Chevrolet Kodiak service truck to the Collins campus, much to the delight of principal Jim Howard and program instructor Nick Tabor.
Tabor said the truck will be used to train students on field service work as part of the two-year program.
